Seesaw
I took away several lessons from learning about Seesaw on Tech Thursday. I learned that students can scan a QR code with their smart phones in order to join the class. This is a very useful tool that provides for quickness and efficiency when organizing a lesson. Secondly, students can use an emoji to represent their name instead of the letters of their name. By using a picture instead of their names, students can be creative and enjoy learning. Lastly, parent access is a great tool that can be used to connect with parents. The parents’ ability to see their students’ progress is key in creating an organized and well thought out teaching environment. Seesaw relates to Danielson Component 2a, Creating a Classroom Environment of Respect and Rapport, because students can directly interact with one another. For instance, peers can “like” each other’s posts and also comment which allows for collaboration and communication. Also, all student comments must be approved by the teacher so that constructive feedback is ensured. Therefore, I was very well informed by Tech Thursday and learned how teachers and parents can work together to create a comfortable environment in which students can thrive. I would be comfortable using Seesaw in my future classroom because it is user-friendly and brings technological realities into the classroom.
