What is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a website that allows users to save and share pictures and ideas. Users can "pin" certain pictures and save them to a board. By creating boards with different purposes, users can categorize their ideas into specific areas. Using Pinterst allows users to share ideas and collaborate on new and innovative concepts.
What is the process you went through to create a professional account?
In order to create a account, I created a professional username that other users can use to view my pins. I then created different educational boards and pinned pictures to them. I also commented on other users' ideas to collaborate and share thoughts. By doing so, I established myself as a professional seeking to grow her network.
What types of professional boards did you create? Why?
I created boards entitled: Content Specific, Teaching Strategies, Classroom Organization and Decor, and Technology Tools. The Content Specific board has pins related to Science and History because those are my concentration areas. The Teaching Strategies board provides ideas on ways to reach and relate to students. Furthermore, it gives ideas on classroom control and management. The Classroom Organization and Decor board has pins that give insight into ways to set up a classroom. It provides strategies for effective use of classroom space so that learning and collaboration can be maximized. Lastly, the board, Technology Tools, provides ideas on how to incorporate technology into the cirriculum. It is important to use technology, and the board provides clever ways to get students involved.
How does it fit into the component you identified?
Pinterest relates to Component 4e which discusses growing and developing professionally. By using Pinterest, teachers can grow their network by connecting with other professionals. Sharing ideas and collaborating provides an excellent opportunity to learn new and relevant concepts.

What went well?
Pinterest is an extremely user-friendly website and allows for personalization of boards. I love the organization that the boards provide. It is also beneficial that finding pins is easy by searching for keywords. I believe I created an organized and dynamic Pinterest account by taking advantage of the boards and various pins.
How does the learning from this component and tech tool tie in to your learning in Foundations of Teaching?
Using Pinterest relates to my education class because we discuss ways to reach students of all needs and backgrounds. Using Pinterest allows me to research creative ways to incorporate all students in to classroom activities.
How can you use it in your future classroom?
I can use Pinterest in my future classroom in many ways. I can continue to update my current Pinterest so that I can build upon ideas and concepts. I can also encourage students to use Pinterest and share their boards with me so that I can learn more about their likes and dislikes in the classroom and how the learn best.
