Domain 2: The Classroom
Domain 2 involves creating a classroom environment in which students can be comfortable and capable of learning new information. Once students feel safe and at ease in the classroom, they will be able to thrive. The components within the domain are Component 2a: Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport, Component 2b: Establishing a Culture for Learning, Component 2c: Managing Classroom Procedures, Component 2d: Managing Student Behavior, and Component 2e: Organizing Physical Space. It is important for teachers to maintain an understanding of Domain 2 so that they can create opportunities for students to access materials that will help them feel confident in their understanding. Without an appreciation for the classroom's importance, teachers will not meet the basic educational needs of their students.
