Component 4b:
Maintaining Accurate Records
Why is Component 4b important?
It is important that teachers keep an accurate record of the homework, tests, and other assignments that students complete. By documenting grade history, there will be no argument of whether or not a student received points for a project. Keeping track of grades also encourages teacher organization and preparation.
Why do we need to know about Component 4b?
Teachers need to be aware of the component so that they can be efficient and organized. Furthermore, when teachers keep record of grades and activities, they are able to monitor student learning & adjust instruction as needed. It is vital that teachers make changes to their teaching strategy if lessons are unsuccessful in reaching the needs of each student.
Elements
The first element within Component 4b is student completion of assignments. Teachers need to track each student's progress to ensure that they are learning the material and completing assignments. Secondly, teachers need to document student progress in learning. It is important to note how effective our lesson's are so that we can reach each student and understand how they are progressing with the topic at hand. Lastly, teachers should keep non-instructional records such as lunch ticket counts, attendance, hall passes, and field trip forms.
Possible Artifacts
