Animoto
Artifact Description
Describe Animoto and how it is used
Animoto is a program that allows users to create short videos that include pictures, videos, and text. The video's format can also be personalized by inserting music and songs. By using Animoto, teachers can create brief videos that give basic information on a topic.
How did you create the artifact?
I created an Animoto on cellular respiration. I first researched information on the process of cellular respiration. I then googled key terms in the process and looked for corresponding images. After inserting pictures, I chose a song to import into the video. I then cited all my sources and gave credit to pictures.
How does it fit into Danielson framework of teaching and the component you identified?
Using Animoto relates to Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities. As a teacher it is important to create new and exciting projects that can be shared with students. Furthermore, the program connects to Component 4a which discusses reflecting on teaching. By creating a video with Animoto, teachers are able to reflect on their lesson's success. If students understand and comprehend the video's material, then the teacher has been successful.
Artifact Reflection
What did you enjoy about creating the artifact?
I enjoyed using Animoto to create an educational video. Because I will be certified to teacher Middle Level Science, the content was interesting to me. Moreover, Animoto was a very user-friendly website that allowed me to put a personal touch on the video.
How does this experience relate to Growth Mindset?
Designing a video with Animoto allows students to have a growth mindset because they can learn new and different information by watching videos. Also, teachers can experience a growth mindset by using a new form of technology as a method of educating students.
How can you use this tool in your future classroom?
I can use Animoto in my classroom in various ways. For instance, I can create a quick video on a lesson that will be discussed in class the next day. By having students watch the video the night before the lesson, they can become familiar with the content before learning it. Students can also view the video as a post-lesson review.
