Infographic
Tool Description:
What is an infographic?
An infographic is an organized and visually appealing document that allows for quick and effective recall of information. The visual often presents information in an attention-grabbing manner that only divulges central concepts and points. By disclosing main ideas, viewers have an easier time remembering important facts and gain a better understanding of the topic.
How did you create your infographic?
In order to create my infographic I focused on food webs/energy transfer. I first presented the question "What is a food web?". I then defined a food web and gave descriptions of the different types of producers and consumers. I did not go into extreme details and descriptions of each, as this would detract from the document's simplicity. However, I gave a picture and example of each type to aid in memory and overall attractiveness.

Artifact Reflection:
What did you enjoy about creating the artifact?
I learned a lot of new information by creating the infographic. Unrelated to creating the tool, I learned that it is often beneficial to present information in a clear and concise manner. The concept of organizing information into a visual representation allows for efficient recall. Furthermore, I enjoyed learning about how to create an infographic online. I became more comfortable with utilizing a website to design a useful tool.
How does this experience relate to Growth Mindset?
By creating an infographic, I was able to personally have a growth mindset. Until deigning this tool, I had no experience with infographics. However, by using Easel.ly I was able to step out of my comfort zone and develop my own thoughts. To expand, students who view my infographic will also be able to have a growth mindset as they will be encouraged to learn new information on a certain topic. If they have not seen an infographic before, they will also be able to grow by learning information via a different source.
How can you use this tool in your future classroom?
I would be able to use an infographic in my future classroom in a myriad of ways. For example, upon introducing a new topic or chapter, I could create an infographic to present new information in the form of an overview. I could also use infographics in my classroom as a way of posting announcements on upcoming events or tests. This will grab students' attention and will remind them of important information.
