Remind
Tool Description:
What is the tool you used to communicate with students?
I used Remind in order to connect with students. The site is extremely user friendly and is a great way to communicate with students and parents.
How did you create your account?
To create a Remind classroom, I used my Google account. This allowed me to easily create an account that can be accessed through Google. Once my account was set up, I began adding students into my online classroom by entering their name and phone number. Doing so enables Remind to notify students via text when I send out a message.
Artifact Description:
How does it fit into Danielson framework of teaching and the component you identified?
Using Remind fits into the framework because it falls under Domain 3: Instruction. By sending messages out to students, I can notify them of upcoming assignments or homework. Thus, I am instructing them on what they need to accomplish. Remind also fits into Component 3a communicating clearly and accurately. Using a website to give students information allows me as a teacher to tell them exactly what they need to know. It connects to the element of providing directions and procedures. Remind allows me to give directions to students directly via text. The process is efficient and allows for fluent communication.
Artifact Reflection:
What did you enjoy about creating the artifact?
I enjoyed creating a Remind account because it was very user friendly and could be personalized. I had fun creating my online classroom and inviting students to join. I admire the tool's ability to allow me to communicate directly with students through a source that they use often.
How does this experience relate to Growth Mindset?
Using Remind connects to a growth mindset because it allows teachers and students to collaborate in order to reach a mutual goal of educational success. Students do not remain stagnant in their learning because they are constantly updated with new and relevant information. Similarly, teachers experience a growth mindset because they are using a tool with which they may not be familiar. Thus, they are forced to learn new concepts and techniques.
How can you use this tool in your future classroom?
I can use Remind in my future classroom by using it as a way to connect with students and their parents. It is important that students are aware of upcoming assignments and projects. For this reason, Remind is a great tool that is useful in making others aware of important events. I can also use Remind to make students/ parents aware of fieldtrips or permission slips that need to be filled out. Remind is an easy and efficient way to send a quick message to others, reminding them of a significant date or activity.
